Olivia Nogueira Wheaton in collaboration with artist Alicia Nogueira present a video installation Conversations of the Heart will be at the Live Worms Gallery in San Francisco February 24-27, 2019..

"After 2 months in Japan, mother and daughter present a collection of works inspired by the charming archipelago. Alicia Nogueira, Brazilian born artist is inspired by the couth and private exchanges between Japanese people in public spaces. Her daughter, Olivia Nogueira-Wheaton, is interested in the separation between bodies, the communications our edges have. While the world forgets how to communicate face to face, we still depend heavily on the multiplication of imagery. Invisible boundaries make life a constant fight for territory in a shrinking world." — Live Worms Gallery

The art that goes on in most high schools is usually relatively skill-based. At Oxbow, there is more emphasis on looking and seeing and more critical thinking about what you are doing, the human connection, that personal element. Through art you can begin to understand yourself better. That may be the biggest eye-opener for students. It is almost a preview of college. Get out of the mechanical factory high school education and get into something open, new, and invigorating in a small environment.
