Artist Biography

Judith Belzer is an artist who lives and works in Berkeley, California. Using primarily oil paint on canvas, she explores human engagement with the natural world, often looking to the man-made landscape in order to consider this dynamic and sometimes fraught relationship.

Belzer's work is exhibited regularly in galleries and museums and has been acquired by numerous private and institutional collections. Most recently her work was included in group exhibitions at The Berkeley Art Museum, The San Francisco Jewish Museum and at the center for art + the environment at the Nevada Museum of Art. “Lana Turner a journal of poetry and opinion” published a portfolio of her work late last year and will do the same early this year. Belzer is a visiting lecturer in the department of Visual Art and Environmental Studies at Harvard University and is a 2014 John Simon Guggenheim Fellow. She Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Barnard College with a degree in English and studied art at The New York Studio School.
