Jason Kartez

Jason has been announced as one of four artists in residence for an inaugural program with the GRYD Foundation (Gang Reduction and Youth Development) in collaboration with the City of Los Angeles. Over the course of four months, Kartez will lead mentorship, design, and product development of community youth generated comics, writing, and clothing. Find out more.

He has also accepted the full-time position of Middle School Art (CTE) Teacher with a focus in Arts, Media and Entertainment at Academia Avance a tuition-free public Charter School in the Highland Park neighborhood in Los Angeles, CA. Kartez is also enrolled at Cal State LA Charter School of Education working towards his single subject art credential. Currently, Jason has work showing in Graphic Content at the National Liberty Museum near the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, PA.

Jason Kartez, after years as a glassblower, entered graduate school at University of Wisconsin, Madison to study conceptual-based sculpture, drawing, printmaking and is making his own comics. Jason performed with special guest professor and artist Faisal Abdu’ Allah in An Apparatus for Us to Speak Freely in Trump's America, glass, plastic ventilator tubing, Velcro, and elastic.
