Jason Kartez

08/25/21

Jason has been announced as one of four artists in residence for an inaugural program with the GRYD Foundation (Gang Reduction and Youth Development) in collaboration with the City of Los Angeles. Over the course of four months, Kartez will lead mentorship, design, and product development of community youth generated comics, writing, and clothing. Find out more.

He has also accepted the full-time position of Middle School Art (CTE) Teacher with a focus in Arts, Media and Entertainment at Academia Avance a tuition-free public Charter School in the Highland Park neighborhood in Los Angeles, CA. Kartez is also enrolled at Cal State LA Charter School of Education working towards his single subject art credential. Currently, Jason has work showing in Graphic Content at the National Liberty Museum near the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, PA.

After three years as an Assistant Professor Of Economics at St. John’s University in Queens, Kirsten moving to Texas to join the Political Science Department at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as an Assistant Professor of Feminist Political Economy.

Printed Matter recently presented a video of Mitsuko talking about her mail art practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was also recently interviewed in the Art Newspaper article: “A Mail Art Renaissance is Growing in the U.S.-Just as the Postal Service Struggles to Survive” by Brian T. Leahy, dated May 5, 2020.

Joseph Gonzalez

After graduating with his BFA in toy design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Joseph freelanced for a several toy companies and was recently was hired full time as toy and accessories designer at Culturefly in NYC. Additionally, he was just accepted to Art Education graduate program at the City College of New York. His portfolio can be found here.

Cecilia Halle

Cecelia recently graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the George Washington University where she earned a bachelors degree in Art History. She was awarded special honors in Art History by Professor Cristin McKnight Sethi for her thesis, “New Museology in Bhopal.” Beginning this summer, Cecelia will work at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage as their Strategic Communications Assistant.

Kira Dane

In 2019, Kira was selected as one of the fellows for Sundance Institute's Ignite Fellowship. The same year, she co-directed a short animated documentary called Mizuko, which was produced with a grant and support from Tribeca Film Institute after winning a pitching competition as part of the If/Then Shorts Program. The film was selected to play at IDFA, SXSW, and GLAS Animation film festivals (and won Special Jury Awards at all three!) and is continuing its festival run. The film is slated to play at Atlanta Film Festival, ACT Human Rights Film Festival, and Docaviv in 2020.

Willow O'Feral

Willow O'Feral's feature film SISTERS RISING premiered at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Feb 2020. SISTERS RISING is about six Native American women fighting to restore personal and tribal sovereignty in the face of ongoing sexual violence against Indigenous women in the United States.

Lenora Ditzler

Lenora Ditzler is a key collaborator in "Countryside, The Future" on exhibit from February 20 through August 14, 2020 at Solomon R. Guggenheim Musuem in New York.

"Countryside, The Future is an exhibition addressing urgent environmental, political, and socioeconomic issues through the lens of architect and urbanist Rem Koolhaas and Samir Bantal, Director of AMO, the think tank of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). A unique exhibition for the Guggenheim Museum, Countryside, The Future will explore radical changes in the rural, remote, and wild territories collectively identified here as “countryside,” or the 98% of the Earth’s surface not occupied by cities, with a full rotunda installation premised on original research. The project presents investigations by AMO, Koolhaas, with students at the Harvard Graduate School of Design; the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing; Wageningen University, Netherlands; and the University of Nairobi. The exhibition will examine the modern conception of leisure, large-scale planning by political forces, climate change, migration, human and nonhuman ecosystems, market-driven preservation, artificial and organic coexistence, and other forms of radical experimentation that are altering landscapes across the world."

Lenora Ditzler is a PhD Candidate at Farming Systems Ecology, Wagneingen University in the Netherlands. She was Oxbow's Environmental Science instructor from OS23–OS30 and an Intern OS1–OS15.
