Chris (she/her) earned an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2004, after a BFA in Painting and Art History from Washington University in St. Louis in 2001; she also attended the Yale Summer School of Art and Music in Norfolk, CT. Chris approaches painting as a tool for self-expression, communication, and exploration, and she teaches traditional techniques alongside experimental ones. She also collaborates with Oxbow's Environmental Science teacher to explore the intersection between Art and Science through life drawing sessions in the garden and teaching students how to grow and use botanical pigments. In her artistic practice, she has presented solo exhibitions at Rena Bransten Gallery in San Francisco and Karl Hutter Fine Art in Beverly Hills. Her work has also been included in recent exhibitions at The Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, Southern Exposure in San Francisco, and the John F. Peto Studio Museum in Island Heights, New Jersey. In 2013, she was selected as the winner of Miami University's Young Sculptor's competition, and her work was included in the December edition of New American Paintings.
