André Comtois is a Los Angeles based artist and teacher. Originally from Montreal, he studied art and film at UCLA and is currently a MFA candidate at UCI. His work, which includes painting, drawing and animation, is based in the act of observation. Often depicting his immediate surroundings, both actual and digital, he is interested in how vision and perception are mediated by architecture and technology. Engaging with a variety of artistic styles and presentation modes, he attempts to make tangible objects of otherwise fleeting moments. This will beAndré’s second summer at Oxbow.
