Teaching Fellow

Wheeler Bills is an artist based in Los Angeles. He attended Oxbow during his junior year of high school (OS32) and is now completing his final semester at the California Institute of the Arts in the Visual Arts Program. The acts of collecting, destruction, and dreaming are key parts of Wheeler’s studio practice. His work considers repetitive tasks, in life and art, and how they holed the potential to induce trance-like states of mind. His large-scale installations consist of sculptural elements combined with sonic elements generated by the materials themselves, often performed live. Over the years Wheeler has worked in a range of professional and academic art settings and is very excited to have the opportunity to engage young people with art and nature experiences, both of which have changed his life and inspired him to pursue an art degree in college.
